Do you agree? If not, we would love to hear from you. Tell us what you think and, who knows, we might reconsider our rankings if your argument is strong enough. Feel free to send in your pictures too and we can add them to this news.
10. Coq Bruyere, St Nicolas - Red
A fabulous run all the way down, but you can also pick it up part way down the Epaule. Hold on tight, it can be a challenging red as it does not always get pisted so can sometimes be lumpy but fun all the same. One of the great things about the Coq Bruyere, is it gets you close to the Gouet restaurant, a Stanford Skiing firm favourite, still family run and offering reasonable prices.
9. Piste A, Rochebrune, Green
How can a green be so much fun? With this green you will build confidence, there are options on it to allow you to build your skill. For those learning to carve it’s a dream as you can set yourself up before the steeper sections and try and hold the form. For beginners it gives harder options once you are ready to challenge yourself.
8. Descente, Cote 2000 - Black
A challenging black run with great snow due to its location at Cote 2000. It takes you from the top of the Cote 2000 chairlift all the way to the brand new replacement of the Radaz chair lift. Along the way there are many options for off-piste fans through the trees or jumping off ridges as long as you know what’s on the other side of them!
7. Aigle, Jaillet - Black.
A fantastic black run if you like a bit of danger in your life. There are some steep and often unpisted sections but they are worth it for the killer views back over toward Megève and the Praz Sur Arly valley.
6. Retour Alpette, Rochebrune, Blue.
You will find some of the views on Rochebrune but we recommend trying the alternative version which takes in three pistes from the top to the bottom of the Alpette chairlift. Start on Retour Alpette, after the wide carving section take a left onto Girolle, past the Danger signs which warn of pedestrians as you cross a footpath, down through the short, quiet tree section and join Thurn for 100m, then take the right onto the bottom blue section of a black run all the way to the lift.
5. Oratoire, Mont d'Arbois, Blue.
Another little used piste, head down from the top of the Mont d’Arbois cablecar and take a right after the beginner areas. It’s a wide piste with good visibility down the piste making it ideal for practicing edge to edge carving without getting in anybody’s way.
4. Finance, St Gervais - Blue.
A long cruisey blue that takes you all the way from the top of Mont d’Arbois and down towards the top of the recently updated Alpin cablecar, passing various restaurants on the way.
3. Grande Epaule, St Nicolas - Red.
There are amazing views to be had on this run. From the Epaule lift have your photo with Mont Blanc towering behind you and then either head straight on if you are daredevils or take a left if you are more sensible like us!
2. Prapacot, Princesse - Blue.
One of our Unthank Ski Club’s favourites. More busy than some but a fabulous run down to the Princesse mid station.
1. Lanchettes, Rochebrune - Red.
Great wide, quiet red with lots of variety, with its location and drag lift it is usually very quiet and the snow is often nice and smooth.
