Skiing in Megève, France

The Megève ski area is huge with over 445km of piste and 113 lifts on the Skipass. Outside the peak New Year and Half-Term weeks, the pistes are often deserted and queues are rare.  The runs are easily accessible from the town and there is plenty to keep you occupied for a full week long ski holiday or a ski weekend.

Ski Runs to Suit All Standards in Megève

There are runs to suit everyone from the nervous beginner to the powder hound.

Beginners soon graduate to the winding confidence-building greens of Mont D'Arbois. Long blue and red runs suit intermediate skiers, snaking through the trees and offering fantastic views of Mont Blanc. Black slope skiers are challenged by the steep terrain of Mont Joly and speed freaks by the Women's World Cup downhill run at Cote 2000.

"If I want to ski with my family, I can think of no better place to ski than Megève."
Andre Seigneur - former French national racer trainer

All over the mountains around Megève are charming restaurants and cafes all with individual character.

Social skiing helps you make the most of your ski holiday

Mixed ability groups benefit from joining our free Unthank Ski Club, which allows you to discover the pistes at your own speed and ability, meet other people in the resort and still be with your friends and family for lunch!

Ski Touring (Randonee) and Cross country (ski de fond)

It's not just downhill skiing in Megeve.  There is also plenty of ski touring and extensive cross country pistes.  During lockdown many people discovered ski touring as a way of enjoying the mountains without relying on lifts.  You can enjoy the true peace and tranquility of the mountains and really get away from it all as well as enjoying some great off-piste.  The ESF and Evolution 2 are both offering ski touring lessons to get you started.

There is a big base for cross country at Mont d'Arbois and further up towards Cote 2000.  Lessons are available with the ESF.  Again, tracks wind round the mountain far away from the busier pistes.  You can spot wildlife and take life at a slower pace.  You can also use these tracks for snowshoeing.  View a piste map here.
