The traditional Savoyard town of Megeve is still occupied by many of the original families like the Perinets and Grossets, but has all the amenities of a modern ski resort.
The centre of Megeve is pedestrianised around a 13th century church, with
interesting narrow streets to explore and a wide variety of boutiques,
delicatessens, bars and restaurants.
Megeve is basically a French resort, although more overseas visitors are starting to discover its charms. There are no huge hotels and the resort does not cater for the mass market.
The ski area is vast, with a variety of ski runs to suit all abilities
(see the skiing), but Megeve is also great
for non-skiers. There is a special lift pass to allow you to meet
the skiers in you party for lunch. There are marked paths on the
mountain for walking, an outdoor and indoor skating rink and a well-equipped
leisure centre with indoor swimming pool, sauna, tennis courts and
climbing wall.
The special Megeve ambience: We cannot explain it but it's partly the charm of the resort, the friendliness of the Megevans, the interest and variety of the skiing, and of course the picturesque mountain restaurants with their fabulous Savoyard specialities.

Megeve is pronounced with a soft G and ends like Kev. In this website

above) because some web browsers do not display accents properly.
